Dr. Lada Rasochova is the founder and CEO of Dermala Inc. She has been involved in commercialization of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products for the past 20 years. She spent more than 15 years in biotech and pharma industry where she held various leadership positions, including as the R&D leader of vaccine technologies and director of new business development in the Dowpharma division of the Dow Chemical Company. She built and managed the Human Vaccine unit, led the development of novel vaccine and immunotherapeutics candidates, and advanced several candidates into human clinical trials. Prior to Dow, she was with Mycogen, a biotechnology startup that was acquired by Dow Chemical. After joining the UC San Diego in 2009, Dr. Rasochova co-founded the California Institute for Innovation and Development that serves as a hub for innovation, entrepreneurial education and technology commercialization at UCSD Rady School. She founded the Rady Venture Fund, a venture capital fund that invests in early stage technology ventures, StartR accelerator that provides support to emerging startup companies, and award winning mystartupXX accelerator that supports the next generation of female founders and female-led technology startups. Dr. Rasochova teaches graduate level courses in Technology Commercialization and Venture Capital Management and serves as an advisor to several startup companies. Dr. Rasochova is a microbiologist/virologist by training; she received her Ph.D. in MCDB from ISU and MBA from UCSD. She is an inventor of 20 patents, author of many scientific publications, and a recipient of several national and international awards.
