Dean Chang

Dean Chang oversees the nationally acclaimed venture creation programs at the University of Maryland as the Mtech Ventures/TAP director. Dean teaches a variety of technology entrepreneurship courses and is a strong advocate of preparing students to compete in the 21st century by weaving technology, business, and entrepreneurship together. Dean previously held the roles of CTO and Vice President, Gaming Business of Immersion Corporation, a company he helped guide over ten years from a venture-backed, Silicon Valley startup born at Stanford University to a publicly traded (NASDAQ: IMMR), world-leading licensor of haptics technology. Dean holds over thirty patents; speaks regularly at technology conferences; and has written freelance articles for BusinessWeek Online. Dean received his B.S. from MIT and an M.S. and Ph.D from Stanford University, all in mechanical engineering. He also holds an MBA with honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Palmer Scholar.
